Cache Valley's Luxury Theater

On the way to Idaho on a quick buying trip with my sweetheart (woo hoo!),

we stopped in Logan to have dinner at the legendary Bluebird Cafe

when saw this gem just around the corner. . . .

The Utah Theatre opened in 1924. . .

then operated as a discount movie theater for many years

before closing unexpectedly in 2005.

Patrons of the theater only received a recorded message -

"Thank you for calling the Utah, Cache Valley's luxury theater.

We have decided to retire.  Therefore we are temporarily closed.

Thank you for your patronage."

On 13 March 2005 Michael Ballam announced the purchase of the Utah

by the Utah Festival Opera, thanks to a generous grant.

When Fred and I walked by, the marquee simply said,

"Under renovation"
